Link building tips(1)
SOCIAL BOOKMARKING:
1) Manipulate your website socially, by which people can share content, links, opinions, videos, experience, perspectives with each other. You can even go for services which has multiple book marking formats (Addthis.com).
2) Recognize the social linking potential of your website and analyze your sites whether it will be benefited from social linking or not and why, then obtain those useful links.
3) Del.icio.us, Shadows, Yahoo’s MyEb, Furl, Diigo, Yahoo answers, Answerbag, Wondir, Digg, Netscape, Reddit, Tailrank, Technorati, Bloglines and many more are the various forms of social media tools.
4) Remember that depending upon the benefits from the social media links a website may be or may not be book marked.
REQUEST TO LINK:
1) When you request a webmaster to link to your website, make him a genuine request with good approach and sincerity (Don’t fake), don’t go for link policies, don’t demand any thing like specific anchor texts (In bound links) etc, don’t go for unsolicited statements, stop spamming them by sending unauthorized, unrelated links like .edu, and many other links.
2) Go for actual contact address (Don’t spam), don’t apologize in first line of your email; never tell him to forward the mail to the proper person (if he is not a correct person).
3) Never request from a G mail account, don’t use bad grammar, never ask him to add the link first, need to explain how your sites will benefit to them, why should they link to your site.
4) Requesting through voice would help you even more since you could express yourself to him point to point and get more personalized.
LINK OPTIMIZATION AND SHORT URLS:
1) Linking to other websites should be a part of the natural order of things on your website. And network of links pointing to your site is the simplest, easiest and most cost effective method for building traffic.
2) If you have a great linkable content and strategy, then link optimization is the process where you can make your existing great content linkable at the URL level.
3) The easiest ways to make your URL’s linkable is just go for short URL’s. Since webmasters or any one (Human nature) will be more inclined to short URL’s.
4) URL wrapping in Email is just one area where long links can hurt you and also other areas like Social book marking, Forum boards are also limited to certain length of text per line.
5) If you have deep content sites which have long URL’s then go for short static redirect URL’s.
6) While some of the webmasters don’t like to link to redirects, then you can go for both long and short URL’s explaining that if the long one isn’t clickable, use the short one.
7) If you are using a short redirecting URL’s, be on the safe side always explain to the reader of your link request message that why are you redirecting them.
ANALYZE YOUR SITES BEYOND SEARCH RANKS:
1) Just try little bit intelligently by ignoring the search engines every once in a while.
2) Go for the link analysis absolutely nothing to do with search rank, page rank, high trust domains, etc.
3) By removing search engines from your link analysis you could get some useful information that can challenge you in knowing what to look for.
4) For example go for your regionally or locally related groups with whom you are working or doing business (might have great links) or other related people with whom you are not working, then analyze the market contact them get the new links.
5) Contact as many as people (related), explain your site related programs, services (see what they can gain from your site) and get the links.
6) Here you are discovering the links which has nothing to do with search ranks (but such links could give off a ranking effect). This can be called as link intelligence, link marketing analysis.
INBOUND LINK POTENTIAL:
1) Make sure that your website has logical, natural, and unique inbound link potential. Since as the time changes the linking strategies might change but inbound links cannot be changed.
2) Get the links that your website can get that other sites will never get. This shows perfect inbound link profile for your site, users and search engines.
3) Get good no of inbound links which will carry a larger weight with the search engines and these search engines might even credit links from sites.
4) Don’t rush too much to get links since your site might lose its uniqueness of content that sets one site apart from other sites.
5) At the end of the day do not chase for the same links as every one else does, spend your time in making your site truly unique and then develop a linking strategy to capitalize on that.
ARTIFICIAL LINKING:
1) Get your website well linked with combination of good factors and with trustworthiness of the links pointing back to your site.
2) Avoid artificial linking schemes; avoid getting too many links too fast legitimate your inbound link profile.
3) Never make a goal of fooling search engines algorithm into thinking that link was freely earned. Avoid as much as possible swapping of links, bartering the links, other wise the respective site becomes less trust worthy than a link that occurs with no strings attached. The link may be a great source of direct traffic, leads, etc., but for rankings, it’s likely to have no value at all.
4) Never rely on reciprocal linking as your only linking tactic, most of the link reciprocity looks suspicious in fact artificial. Get your site with link-worthy content and seek links for that content from known trusted sources.
5) Search engines do look for suspicious linking activity now. They’ll only get more capable in the future. If Google or any other engine notices something about the links pointing to your site that it feels is artificial, your site’s rank may drop as a consequence of the engine devaluing the links pointing to it.
UNNATURAL LINKING PATTERNS:
1) Spotting manipulating patterns isn’t as hard as some people think it is. Every manipulating program is not an automatically a bad thing. But it could be, but not always.
2) Get the links for the sake of advertising on a demographically relevant target site is smart business and it is arguably manipulated, but it’s not spam.
3) Define a manipulated linking pattern as links obtained purely in pursuit of search rank with no thought given to topical relevancy. Define manipulated linking as any attempt to take advantage of or exploit a weakness in content/server design, like form injection or automated blog commenting. Define manipulated linking as any links acquired as a result of sending automated or bulk email link requests to sites that you have never visited.
4) Spot manipulated linking patterns in this way: Run a competitive analysis tools for a respective websites, import the database of those websites into excel sheet, analyze the inbound links for the sites that has none of them others have. Look at those links first and then collect them.
5) Check out those sites (In bound links) for, whether they are related to each other or not. If they are not related to each other then that implies, simply they are seeking to improve the rank with out regard to quality or value.
6) And if we can notice these things just by using a rudimentary Excel spreadsheet, then the engines can see it any time they decide they want to see it.
GOOGLE PERSONALIZED SEARCH ENGINES AND GOOGLE BOOK MARKS:
1) Get a website with google personalized search engine which also impacts link building related activities (link spam will take a huge hit and topical link building will become more important).
2) These types of links also have a better chance of being seen by humans that care about that content, and by extension, more likely to be bookmarked or shared.
3) Create bookmarks you can access anywhere. Bookmark your favorite web sites and add labels and notes to them. Your labels and notes are searchable later, and you can access your bookmarks from any computer by signing in.
4) Use Personalized Search to find the sites you visit frequently and bookmark your favorites. Use the Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer for quick access to your bookmarks and to easily create more.
5) Think that you have bookmarked forty sites about baseball and two about spastic colons? Bingo. Over time your personal search results will reflect that. This example is an oversimplification of a much more complex and remarkable shift the engines are all making or considering. Your habits while online help paint a picture of what you care about.
6) You can also make it a bit easier for your content to add that content to Google’s various services. Like “add to My Google” chicklets that slap RSS feeds on your Google Personalized homepage or feed reader page in just two clicks.
7) The same applies to Google Bookmarks. You could use a cool third party tool like the “Socializer” or “Add this” or you could just focus specifically on Google Bookmarks.
Depending on how many search related services you use and how many you’ve personalized, all the engines know a heckuva lot about you, not just Google.
9) Engines know the sites you click on in the search results, the sites you bookmark, the feeds you read. They know the places you’ve mapped, the restaurant you got directions for, the movie times you checked out.
GOOGLE PERSONALIZED SEARCH ENGINES:
1) Create a google custom search engine and select the sites you want in it. Then let any one search your site on google CSE. Google CSEs offer a couple link building opportunities, one of which might be described as affinity linking.
2) These custom based search engines gives high rankings on content related results than other similar websites.
3) Don’t depend on the people running the many Google CSEs to stumble across your content. Be proactive and look for them. Use the Google CSE directory and see if there are engines that fit for your content. If you find one, contact the owner and suggest inclusion.
4) The second linking opportunity offered by having a Google CSE is from Google themselves. Look at Google’s CSE picks again. I bet those sites are getting several benefits from that inclusion, among them a little Google-centric link love. Remember also to submit your Google CSE here of course. And here. And you might want to look through the results for the search “Directory of Google Custom Search Engines.” They should yield a few links for your new CSE.
5) Remember; don’t ignore the other players in the custom search engine space, like Rollyo, swicki, Gigablast, and Yahoo Search Builder. They offer similar opportunities, as well.
GOOGLE WEBMASTER CENTRAL:
1) Improve traffic with Google Webmaster Tools like over viewing the errors encountered by Google’s crawlers while accessing pages on your site, see problems with site meta data, such as title and meta description.
2) Over view the search queries most often used for your site and which of them were clicked, check what googlebot sees, crawl stats etc
3) You can check the pages that link to yours sites front page, pages that are similar to your site, cache of your site.
4) You can submit your site map and these sitemaps will google to discover the pages where crawlers might not otherwise find.
5) You can check out the pages with how many external and internal links do they have.
6) Google analytics and many other robust analytics programs help us in providing the no of users, demographical areas, rate of conversations, what kind of browsers, OS’s they use and many ……
7) By this analytics we can show what kind of users we have in particular demographical areas to other people to advertise on our site and can generate more bucks.
OTHER KEYPOINTS TO NOTE:
1) First, build a content rich website with high quality potential keywords related to your product or service or information. The product or service you provide to a user has to be user friendly, genuine, qualified and authorized. Since at the end of the day even after having good traffic to your site it is the information or the service that has to benefit the customer. In other words the ratio of conversions of sales or service with the no of visitors got to be increased constantly. Otherwise the lesser the conversion rates the lesser the traffic you get even if the site is well known.
2) From above one can understand that if the website is highly enriched with quality content (Good service) then it might become at least little bit easy for link building experts to optimize a site. And also by naturally the search engines might credit you a back links and many other quality websites will link (back links) or point back to your site.
3) If not, then we (Link building experts) need to make assure to analyze the website, its goal, its service or product, its users, its market (present and future) before starting the optimization.
